Animal Crossing Crazy

For Animal Crossing Lovers...

Planting flowers was always fun in previous Animal Crossing games. It acted as a cheap and quick way to beautify the town! But when Animal Crossing: Wild World was released for Nintendo DS, many AC planters realized that there was more to planting that just a simple burying of the seed.

In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, there are several things you can do with a flower, plant it, breed it, wear it in your hair, and sell your hybrids to Tom Nook. Focusing in on the breeding and raising of the flowers, the watering can became one of the most essential items in any AC planter's pocket. In this game, when you plant flowers you have to water them, preferrably only dried-out, dying ones. Do not pull dry flowers, you can water them and they'll return to a healthy state by the next morning. Building small gardens rather than spreading flowers out all over town is advisable to any planter.

There are two simple ways to insure that breeding and/or hybriding of flowers does succeed. One way is diagonally, and the other is horizontally.

With roses...
Crossing a red and another red can lead to another red or a black rose.
Crossing red and white can lead to either a red rose, a white rose, or even a pink rose.
Crossing red and yellow can lead to either a red rose, a yellow rose, or an orange rose.
Crossing two whites could lead to a white rose or a purple rose.
White and yellow could lead to either white or a yellow rose.
Crossing two yellow roses only results in another yellow rose.
Crossing black and purple can lead to a black rose, a purple rose, or even a blue rose.
If you water a black rose with a golden watering can* then you can get a gold rose!

With tulips, all the hybrids are the same with the exception of...
Crossing a red and yellow can lead to red, yellow, and purple.
Crossing two white tulips only leads to white.
Crossing two yellow tulips can lead to a yellow and a black.
There are no gold tulips.

Pansies are a bit diffferent...
Crossing two red pansies can lead to a red or a purple.
Red and white leads to red or white.
Red and yellow leads to red, yellow, and orange.
Two whites lead to a white or a blue.
A white pansy and a yellow can lead to white or yellow.
Two yellows lead to only yellow.

Finally, cosmos...
Two reds lead to red or black.
Red and white lead to red, white, or pink cosmos.
Red and yellow can lead to red, yellow, or orange.
Two whites lead to only white.
A white and a yellow lead to a white or yellow.
Two yellows only lead you to another yellow.

The order in which you cross the flowers does not matter. Example: red x white, or white x red will still lead you to the same possible result(s).

*To achieve the golden watering can, you must keep your town in perfect condition for sixteen consecutive days.
